Ram-Shell is a reusable training cartridge designed for use in standard shotguns. It uses commonly available .22 caliber blank charges to propel training projectiles (such as plastic or rubber) for practice and familiarization.

Unlike traditional 12 gauge shells, Ram-Shell does not use a full-power shotgun load. Instead, a .22 blank provides the propulsion impulse. This can reduce felt recoil and operating cost compared to typical 12 gauge ammunition. These are not caliber adapters but rather re-loadable shells.

Ram-Shell products are intended for use in standard shotguns (for example, 12 gauge models depending on the specific product). They feed and cycle reliably in all pump and lever action shotguns but do not automatically cycle semi-automatic shoguns. Always verify compatibility with your firearm and follow all safety and handling practices.

.22 caliber blanks intended for powder-actuated tools are commonly available at home improvement and hardware retailers. Different power levels may affect performance. Use only compatible blanks and follow product guidance.

No. Powder-actuated tool blanks are widely sold and commonly stocked at hardware and home improvement stores.

Ram-Shell can be used with training projectiles such as plastic or rubber options, depending on your training environment and application. Choose projectiles appropriate for your backstop and safety practices. Large and rigid projectiles need to be loaded with extra care and never forced into the hull. Light finger pressure (<10lb) is all it takes, otherwise the hull can crack. Rubber projectiles are more forgiving. Diameters between .670 and .680 can be used.

Yes. The cartridge body is reusable and can be reloaded repeatedly with compatible components and appropriate care. Replacement hulls are available - but should generally last indefinitely, provided the projectiles are not forced into the hull.

Service life depends on usage and handling. With proper care, components are intended for repeated use. Inspect parts regularly and replace any worn or damaged components. The most common failure is due to projectiles being forced into the hull. Finger pressure is all that it takes.

Reduced recoil training can be helpful for beginners and youth when used responsibly and under proper supervision. Always follow safe firearm handling practices and use an appropriate training environment.

No. Felt recoil is typically heavily reduced compared to full-power shotgun ammunition, but it is not zero. Maintain proper stance and safe handling at all times.

Operating cost is often significantly lower than traditional 12 gauge ammunition because the primary consumable is a .22 blank. This can enable more practice for the same budget.

If an item is marked Backorder, you can still purchase it. We fulfill backorders as soon as possible, in the order received.

No...not yet. The 12-Gauge caliber is by far the most common and arguably most popular and for that reason the focus is with this cartridge. Eventually, the plan is to expand into other calibers of similar design.
